  <body>Friends of Austin Film Festival,

When the economy takes a dive, non-profits suffer. Non-profit arts organizations, in particular. This is an especially difficult time for arts organizations seeking government
and corporate funding and the Austin Film Festival needs your help now more than ever in the way of a financial contribution.

Please take a moment to read this letter and know that your donation will go a long way toward helping us continue our mission to further the art, craft, and business of screenwriting and filmmaking.

Marsha Milam and I started the Heart of Film Screenwriters Conference in 1994, then the first event of its kind to recognize and celebrate screenwriters&#8217; contributions to the entertainment industry. In addition to presenting outstanding premiere film events with acclaimed filmmakers in attendance &#8211; Blood Simple with Joel &amp; Ethan Coen, Slumdog Millionaire with Danny Boyle, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang with Shane Black, to name but a few - Austin Film Festival continues to discover new talent. Before they became famous filmmakers, the Festival screened Craig Brewer&#8217;s (writer/director Hustle &amp; Flow) first feature film and Jason Reitman&#8217;s (director Juno) award-winning short film In God We Trust.

The Festival &amp; Conference is a conduit for connecting local filmmakers with the international filmmaking industry, bringing attention to Austin&#8217;s large stable of talented filmmakers, creating an exciting environment for developing ideas and creating relationships that can translate to new film production in Austin and Texas.

Over the past 15 years, thanks to your participation, we have grown into the Austin Film Festival, an internationally renowned organization officially recognized by the Academy
of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences&#174; for its jury-winning films that provides diverse year-round events and annually serves about 40,000 people.

While our production costs have increased to accommodate our growing audiences and new programs, several of our grants and corporate sponsors, major sources of income for the
Festival, have been forced to drastically reduce their budgets. Your generous donation will support the AFF in continuing to bring such luminary filmmakers to Austin as Danny Boyle, Horton Foote, Barry Levinson, David Milch, Frank Pierson, Oliver Stone, Lawrence Kasdan, John Milius, Gary David Golberg, Robert Duvall, Andrew Stanton, John Landis, Garry Shandling, Harold Ramis, and many more.

Additionally, support from donors like you will subsidize a program that does not generate income, but that is vital to the preservation and growth of our arts community: the Young Filmmakers Program, which provides film-based arts education programs to increase literacy in the Austin public high schools.

Please join the Austin Film Festival in providing quality arts education to our youths and sharing our film history with each other and future screenwriters and filmmakers.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and generous contribution. We are grateful for your passionate support of the arts community and the Austin Film Festival.

Best wishes,

Barbara Morgan
